South of Market

South of Market is a 39-story commercial-residential condominium project in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), the newest business district in Metro Manila. Nicknamed SoMa, the high-rise condomium was developed by Century Properties Inc. and Meredien Development Group, the same developers of Essensa East Forbes, judged by Asiaweek as the best residential building in the Philippines. The high-rise condominium sits among other high-rises, office skyscrapers and commercial establishments at the BGC.


South of Market sits on a prime piece of property in Bonifcaio Global City, the newest emerging center of business in Metro Manila. Specifically located at the corner of 11th Avenue and 26th Street at the BGC, the high-rise condominium is a stones throw from the Market! Market! shopping mall, a major shopping and transportation hub in in the area.

Within the vicinity of South of Market are international schools such as the International School Manila, Manila Japanese School, British School Manila, Safety College and Victory Learning Institute. Also, in the vicinity of the high-rise condominium are leisure, dining and entertainment venues at The Fort and Bonifacio Stop-Over. South of Market is also near the new St. Lukes Medical Center which opened in 2008.

Other shopping centers in the vicinity of SoMa are PriceSmart, Glorietta, Rockwell, MC Home Depot, San Antonio Arcade, and Rustan’s Supermarket. Leisure and fitness establishments in the area include the Manila Polo Club, Manila Golf, Sports Kamp, and Fitness First. The restaurants in the vicinity include Le Souffle, Minggoy’s, Good Earth, Trio, Zong, Pasto, McDonald’s, Jollibee, Pancake House, Gourmand, Go Nuts Donuts, UCC, Starbucks, and Trio.


South of Market was developed by the tandem of Century Properties, Inc. and Meredien Development Group. The two companies are the same developers of Essensa East Forbes, judged as the best residential condominium in the Philippines by Asiaweek. Century Properties Inc. was also behind condominium projects like Soho Central and Bel Air Soho.

The architect for South of Market was R. Villarosa Architects, which was hailed by the Building and Construction Interchange (BCI) Asia as one of the Philippines top 10 architectural firms of 2007, for this same condominium project.


The South of Market project was announced in 2004 and construction started in 2005. The North Tower of the twin-tower structure was topped off and completed in December 2006 and the whole project was completed a year later. The units in South of Market were turned over to unit owners during the first quarter of 2008.


Some of South of Markets features and amenities are the following: two floors of commercial and retail outlets; three high-speed elevators for each tower; THX theater movie room for exclusive use of residents; two-story Travertine cladded lobby; function rooms and owners lounge; swimming pool, locker room, fully equipped gym and personal trainers; game room; doorman-assisted entry; and massage services (on a fee basis).

There is also a full-time concierge providing services such as catering and special events, dry cleaning pick up and delivery, florist delivery, maid service, restaurant reservations, tailoring and alterations, movie and sport tickets, and car washing and detailing.


South of Market is a low-density condominium designed to accommodate only four to eight units in each floor.The floor layouts are designed to have only corner units with balconies. Moreover, the units in South of Market come fully fitted and fully furnished at sale. Each unit comes complete with the following: kitchen cabinetry; telephone lines and cable TV; balconies; closet for bedrooms; washing machine; air-conditioning unit per bedroom; refrigerator; cook top and range hood; microwave oven; flat-screen TV; DVD player and entertainment sound system; living room set including a sofa, coffee table and chairs; dining room set including a dining table and chairs; bed frame in each bedroom.

During the pre-selling stage the available units were priced as follows: one-bedroom units with a floor area of 39.03 square meters were priced around P2.75 million; two-bedroom units with a floor area of 74.18 square meters were priced around P5.23 million; and three-bedroom units with a floor area of around 113.21 square meters were priced around P7.98 million.
